Speaker Bios

edward-blackEdward Black is a global medical technology reimbursement/market access expert. He is a life-long resident of the State of Minnesota and is based in Saint Paul, MN USA. Edward represents Berlin-based Kalms Consulting in a business development capacity. Edward has lectured to medical technology clusters in 11 different countries about the challenges of commercializing technologies in the US market. He is a long-standing member of the University of MN Business Advisory Council and has taught a master's level class focusing on market access issues for technology commercialization.

buchen-eliseElise Buchen is the International Business Development Manager at the Minnesota Trade Office (MTO), a division of the Department of Employment and Economic Development for the State of Minnesota.

Elise manages the Minnesota Trade Office’s foreign representatives and works to attract foreign investment to the state.

She previously held international business development and sales management positions in the bicycle and housewares industries where her duties ranged from Latin American and Caribbean business development to international brand sales management and global sales management.

Prior to her work in the private sector Elise coordinated the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program for local nonprofit, Global Minnesota.  She also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia, focusing on basic sanitation and small business development projects.

Elise speaks Spanish and holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Spanish from Smith College.  She has lived in Spain, Bolivia, Peru and London and has worked with over 45 countries during her career.

jay-carreiroJay Carreiro is the Principal Commercial Officer for the U.S. Consulate General Düsseldorf. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce for 23 years. Prior to his arrival in Germany, he served on the Board of Directors of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) as Vice President for the Foreign Commercial Service (FCS). Originally from Massachusetts, Jay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration from Rhode Island College and a Master of Public Administration and Juris Doctor from Rutgers University.

Peder Hatling recently joined Medical Alley as the Interim Director of Starts and brings decades of experience as an Investment Banker, Management Consultant, and Venture Investor in the healthcare sector. He has advised domestic and international healthcare technology companies on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), IPOs, venture capital financings, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.

Peder is passionate about helping healthcare companies build and grow highly successful organizations that improve patient and provider experiences through innovation and disruption. He has had the honor of serving a diverse range of clients, including those in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.

kylle-jordanKylle Jordan In her Business Development role, Kylle Jordan expands awareness of Destination Medical Center opportunities to healthtech partners and founders around the world. She works closely with teams throughout the Mayo Clinic network to identify opportunities for clinical collaboration, and aid in commercialization support through her network in Minnesota’s Medical Alley. Her overarching goal is to create a welcoming environment that reduces barriers to US market entry and speeds innovative approaches to the patient’s bedside.

Prior to this role, Kylle led Medical Alley’s Global program and held economic development positions with the State of Minnesota, region of GREATER MSP, Canadian Government, and international non-profit eco-labeling organizations – all with the goal of growing local economies through international market access. From Canadian farm equipment manufacturers, to Minnesotan medtech innovators, to European fisheries, Kylle has been supporting companies for over a decade to aid in their success and expansion. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and French from St. Cloud State University, and a master’s degree in Global Finance, Trade and Economic Integration from the University of Denver.

marco-fecondiniFecondini Marco is the CEO of MEDICA GROUP and an experienced professional in the medical devices and water filtration industries. With a strong track record, he’s been working at MEDICA, an Italian company that’s highly focused on international exports. Over the years, Marco has helped the company grow by combining technical expertise with a clear focus on global markets.

He’s passionate about innovation and enjoys finding practical solutions to complex challenges in the medical and water filtration fields. Marco’s approach to business is hands-on, and he thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments where teamwork and strategic thinking are key. Always looking to learn and improve, he’s driven by the desire to make a real impact through cutting-edge technology and smart strategies.

christin-mechlerChristin Mechler serves as the Senior Regional Investment Specialist for the SelectUSA Program for the Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Embassy Berlin, promoting foreign direct investment into the United from Germany and the DACH region, as well as several other eastern European countries. Prior to this role, Ms. Mechler served as a fiscal and legislative analyst in U.S. state government, focusing her work specifically on the sectors of the justice and judicial system, public safety, and homeland security. She has also previously served as a policy analyst at the German Bundestag and worked with numerous non – governmental organizations in the areas of immigration, law, and community organizing. Ms. Mechler holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs: Global Political Economics from the Technical University of Dresden.
