New Americans Forums
The purpose of the Immigrant and Refugee Affairs Forum is to have a platform that connects state leaders, legislators, and immigrants and refugee communities, to help close the communication and working relationship gap, share state resources, and policies that help remove barriers, and amplify available or intentional advocacy on creating opportunities for immigrants and refugees in Minnesota.
Background/Goal and Outcome
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, civil unrest, and distance/virtual learning have created new challenges and exacerbated barriers for immigrant and refugee communities. Issues immigrants and refugees in Minnesota's faces are endless. To help close the gap, this platform will be a:
- Safe space for immigrants and refugees in Minnesota to come together and unite their efforts and voices towards economic opportunities, education, immigration, and social justice.
- A place for immigrants and refugees to receive information on state resources and updates on policies and services.
- Connector for immigrant and refugee advocates network and collaborate.
