Information for High School Students

Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) works with high schools to ensure that all students have access to the following Pre-Employment Transition Services:

  • Counseling to help you learn about:
    • Job possibilities related to your interests
    • Education or training options after high school
  • Work-based learning
  • Training to help gain work readiness and self-advocacy skills

VRS also provides more individualized employment and training help both while you are in high school and after high school too. There is a counselor assigned to every high school in the state. Find the counselor assigned to your school. You can contact them to learn more about VRS and how to apply.

The VR program received 78.70% of federal fiscal year 2024 funding through grants from the U.S. Department of Education. The federal fiscal year 2024 grants totaled $52,850,455. The required state match for these funds is $14,299,999. The state of Minnesota appropriated $14.3 million to meet the match requirement.
